I met another man, whom we shall call "C". C went to Catholic school as a child, but spent some years not practicing. Although he went to a Protestant church service that morning, he told me that it was uncomfortable because it was different than Catholic mass. C calls himself an open minded Catholic, indicating that he doesn't agree with everything they say, but still maintains the label because of familiarity. I had opportunity to ask him various questions pertaining to his beliefs and what they are based on. Finally, I asked him whether, in the case of Scripture contradicting the pope and church tradition, which one would he believe? He sided with the Bible. This tells me that he is ripe to hear truth and have the Word of God change his worldview. Most Catholics I've talked to will more readily accept the church's authority.
My friend at youth group, whom I mentioned before, has been coming regularly. Once he shows up, I generally spend most of my time talking to him, or rather, listening. He is desperately in need of friends who will care about him and listen to what he has to say. Fortunately, we have had various good conversations about Biblical truth. He was asking me questions about ghosts last week, so that provided an opportunity to talk about the realm of angels and demons. Pray that he will be thinking about God and His Word throughout the week and be motivated to study the Bible.
Pray for all three of these guys, that they will grow in their understanding of God and what salvation is all about.
