Basic Doctrinal Beliefs
Who God is:
Holy, righteous, just, yet gracious and merciful
The Bible, the inerrant Word of God, declares who God is and what He is like. God is not just a force, but a being. Unlike man, He is invisible and is spirit. He is not a part of the universe which He created, nor was He Himself created. God is the one and only "I AM" and has always existed by His own power, in three Persons, outside of time and space. He has no needs nor can He do wrong. He hates disobedience and does not tolerate it, because His very character demands that wrongdoing be punished.
Man's problem:
Sin, death, eternal hell
Mankind was created in perfect physical and moral condition, just like all of God’s creation. But God gave man a free will and Adam, the first man, chose to disobey God. This resulted in a separation between God and mankind. Everyone descended from Adam is therefore sinful. Most people realize that they are not perfect, but no matter how hard they try, they cannot be perfect and therefore cannot please God. Even our attempts at producing righteous deeds are viewed as filthy rags by God. The sad fate of mankind is that the ultimate punishment for sin will be an eternity of torment in the Lake of Fire.
God's provision:
Jesus Christ, Deity, full payment made
God became a man and lived on the earth about 2,000 years ago, in the nation of Israel. He did many miracles and taught about God, but many did not believe Him. The people were outraged by Jesus claiming to be God and executed Him by nailing Him to a cross. Because He lived a sinless life, He was the only One qualified to pay the sin debt for someone else. In fact, His death was sufficient to pay the debt for all of mankind.
Man's responsibility:
Faith alone.
The debt has already been paid in full and the only thing man has to do in order to be saved from eternal fire is believe the gospel, trusting in Christ alone.
