My roommate and I each drove our respective cars out here from the northwest. Both nights we camped at free campsites in city parks...and by camping I mean that we threw our sleeping bags on the grass and slept under the stars. Thankfully it didn't rain on us. The only adversities we suffered were some mosquito bites and the lack of showers. One of the first things I did after arriving was take a shower. The final day was fairly exhausting, as an expected 8 hour day turned into about 11. The Missouri road of the last stretch that day seemed to drag on forever, one hill after another, with ridiculous blind curves and no shoulder...some parts seemed conceived in the mind of the late Dr. Seuss.
Now I am here at school safely and we completed our first day of class. Today I was elated to discover that the work detail I am assigned is 'garage'. This involves maintaining the school vehicles used around campus for school and maintenance purposes. I have been wanting an opportunity to learn more about working on cars, so this will be good for me. There is a lot of learning ahead of me in many areas this semester. Thank you all for your prayers.
